Roseville Park Case
AUBURN — The Placer County District Attorney’s Office will not file charges against the seven men suspected of groping young girls at the Golfland Sunsplash water park in Roseville.
The men were arrested on suspicion of coordinating to grope underage girls. They were arrested at the water park over the Memorial Day weekend.
Prosecutors say there was not enough evidence against the men to file charges.
“Our office must prove the above beyond a reasonable doubt to a unanimous jury of twelve people,” Assistant District Attorney Jeff Wilson wrote in a news release.

Eyewitnesses have been proven to be unreliable in many cases, and without more, the District Attorney would not be able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. The District Attorney adhered to the law, and chose not to prosecute a group of men who were likely wrongfully accused. Although the girls’ rights and interests should also be protected, justice would not be served by prosecuting a group of men who cannot be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. There are also severe consequences that could arise from these kinds of accusations. The article mentioned potential deportation. Deportation could change someone’s life forever, especially if they are convicted for a crime that they did not commit. Because of the lack of evidence, the District Attorney made an appropriate decision by dropping the charges.
